Pastor Bill's Comments on the Supreme Court Ruling
Comment on the Supreme Court Ruling Overturning Roe v. Wade
Our nation is divided and passions run high. However several things must always rise above passion, most notably biblical truth, morality, and law.
The biblical truth is that human life is sacred and belongs to God, from womb to grave. No one has a right to unjustly take a human life. Biblical morality makes us duty-bound to defend the weak and vulnerable, and this includes babies in the womb. American law empowers the courts to interpret laws, not make them. The original Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade was an incorrect act of judicial legislation; even the late Justice Ginsberg affirmed that Roe stood on less than adequate legal ground. Today’s decision does not outlaw abortion. It only affirms that the Supreme Court lacked legal standing to impose abortion at a federal level in the Roe case, and so overturns that ruling. Under our system, it is the States and their elected representatives in their legislatures whose voices now matter most. Under American law, this should have always been the case. The United States Congress has always had the power to legislate on this issue, but has never done so, even when pro-abortion members held majorities in both houses.
We welcome today’s ruling, therefore, on biblical, moral, and legal grounds. We view this as a cultural victory for the sanctity of human life, and for a moral code that rises from it.
At the same time, we recognize there can be a painful emotional reaction that may be difficult for many to handle. As a church we stand ready to come alongside with loving spiritual and biblical help. We are here for anyone who struggles with today’s decision, or for women who have undergone, or are contemplating, an abortion. We stand ready to partner with and assist women who find themselves pregnant and don’t know what to do. We will stand with fathers who may feel powerless in their relationship with their young or even pre-born children.
Above all else, people need the Lord. They need the Gospel. They need to be saved. Our world is lost and is groping in darkness. May we be ever faithful to point them to the one Person who can heal a broken heart and set spiritual and moral captives free. May all of us at Pathway Church redouble our efforts to help people find and follow God, wherever he gives us a voice.
In His Grace and Truth,
Bill Giovannetti

We understand we are a large church with multiple buildings and we want you to feel comfortable as you visit us.
Our Pathfinders are friendly people who want to welcome you to Pathway and help you navigate your way around our church. They can answer questions, help you get information about what we believe and what we offer and just introduce you to our church.
If you have children, a Pathfinder will make sure that you and your children are guided to the appropriate meeting rooms and introduced to the ministry leaders, so that they also can have a great experience visiting us.
