Baptism
Baptism
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
– Matthew 28:19
What is Baptism?
Baptism is simply the first step of anyone who is a believer in Jesus. People who are saved are instructed in the Bible to follow Jesus’s example of being baptized in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. The Biblical word for baptism is baptizo, which means to immerse. We believe that Baptism is to be fully immersed in water.
Why should I be Baptized?
Baptism is the next step in obedience as a person follows God. Jesus demonstrated the example (Matthew 3:13-17), and he commanded us to follow him in baptism. (Matthew 28:19)
How do I get Baptized?
At Pathway, we require those seeking to be baptized attend a baptism orientation. The class explains what baptism is and isn’t, and why baptism is important. Once a person has attended the orientation, they are scheduled for baptism. If you are unable to attend one of our baptism orientations, you can schedule a time to meet with one of our Pastors.
We do ask that elementary children, along with their parent(s), meet with a Pathway Pastor prior to being approved for baptism. We only baptize children 1st grade and above.
